Why Join the Michigan Network for Grieving Children?
The idea to create a Statewide entity originated in the early 2000’s, when several children’s bereavement organizations in Michigan started meeting periodically to share information and ideas with each other. Formalizing a Statewide entity through the creation of the Michigan Network for Grieving Children (MNGC) benefits all children’s bereavement organizations and programs in several ways:
- The MNGC provides all existing programs for grieving children in Michigan with a stronger conduit for information-sharing (programmatic, administrative, and funding sources).
- The MNGC provides a unified voice about the needs of grieving children through Statewide multi-media awareness campaigns. In addition, promotion of the MNGC website www.KidsGrief.org helps grieving families throughout Michigan find support programs in their communities.
- The MNGC focuses on partnership opportunities with foundations, corporations and entrepreneurial philanthropists who wish to make a significant impact across the State. These partnerships can also bring potential opportunities for support at the local level.
MNGC members must provide programs that directly support grieving children residing in Michigan after a death. Programs must be open to the community at large, and may be secular or religious based. There is no membership fee for nonprofit organizations (for-profit organization membership is $300.00 annually). The MNGC reserves the right to accept or deny membership for any reason.
The Michigan Network for Grieving Children is operated by Ele’s Place, Inc. under its 501(c)3 status. The name has been legally assumed by Ele’s Place.
